The Breastfeeding Support Otago and Southland website was created by WellSouth Primary Heath Network.
Breastfeeding Support Otago and Southland (BFSOS) is a Peer Support programme. This programme aims to help those who are pregnant or intending to breastfeed and their whānau in our Southern communities. BFSOS provides access to free, friendly, and non-judgemental support to establish, maintain and continue breastfeeding and help with common feeding challenges. All Peer Supporters have completed accredited training and have been police vetted.
Choosing a Peer Supporter
Peer Supporters are based across the Southern region and have a range of experiences and backgrounds. To choose a peer supporter search by region or by the issue you need support with. Click on a Peer Supporters profile to find out more about them and their experience.
WellSouth is the Primary Health Network for the Southern locality, responsible for the delivery of primary health care and supporting general practice teams in Otago and Southland.
Our aim is to support people to look after themselves, promote healthy environments and help provide care, and support access to care, where and when it’s needed.
Peer Supporters are not medical professionals, but are volunteers trained to provide information and support through common challenges to the normal course of breastfeeding.
