Hi, I live at Kaka Point and have two children: Bay born in 2011 and Esmé born in 2015. When I breastfed Bay as a first time mum it was a steep learning curve - a lot of things that I was concerned about were actually totally normal for a breastfed baby - the way they put on weight, sleep (or don't), feeding patterns, etc. I decided to become a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter to help other mums, whatever their feeding choices are, to be confident, informed and supported whether that means breastfeeding for a few days or many years.

Hi I'm Trista mum of Portia (2015) Bronson (2017) and wife of Jayden. I became a peer supporter because I had a few challenges breastfeeding initially and wish I had known there was a group of people there to help when I needed someone. I fed Portia until she self weaned at 16 months and Bronson til he was 2 and a half. Hi! I have recently completed the peer support training programme that was run in Balclutha. I am a mother of two sons born 2015 and 2017, I am currently still on maternity leave so we are making the most of this special time together spending our days getting out and about and discovering our own backyard. I am excited to be able to support parents to reach their own breastfeeding goals. I did not think I would be so passionate about breastfeeding but my own breastfeeding journey has shown me just how wonderful of an experience it is for mother and baby. Even though it is a wonderful experience I know how hard it can be to get going, and to continue, and I am looking forward to supporting you through the good and the bad. Kia ora, I’m Kendal, I’m 26 and I live in balclutha with my partner Samuel and our one year old daughter Eddison. I am still currently feeding Eddison and have really loved being able to do this with her. I love the connection I have with Eddison through breastfeeding and being able to relate and support mums through their journeys. I’m Tania I have 2 girls Sophie (4)and Emily(2) I live in balclutha with my partner Kurt who’s a butcher at the freezing works. I breast fed both my girls for different lengths and felt it built a stronger bond between us. Plus the snuggles I loved. I’m currently studying to become a midwife at the moment while the girls are at kindy and I feel this course was a great addition to my future career. I’m a peer counsellor because I have a passion to help support other mums out there that are finding breast feeding to be difficult or that just want support in other areas to do with family or baby.
